History

alhaurin de la torre cathedral malagaAlhaurín de la Torre, a place with a rich history dating back to ancient times. It was colonized by the Phoenicians between 1000 and 700 BC, who established factories and extracted minerals such as iron and copper. Here Lauros Vetus, a rival of Julius Caesar, was assassinated.

Archaeological remains from the Roman era, such as mosaics, ceramics, and coins, are still preserved. After the fall of the Roman Empire, the Arabs created a new urban center, known as Alhaurein, of which some walls are still preserved.

The Christian conquest in 1482 devastated the gardens and Arab constructions. In the 18th century, the construction of an unfinished aqueduct began, the remains of which still stand and house the houses known as Arcos de Zapata.
