No, this is not the Caribbean. It is Alcazaba Lagoon, an artificial lagoon of 1.4 hectares with ever turquoise waters.

In this article we are going to discover the fantastic Alcazaba Lagoon: A huge freshwater oasis located 6 km off the Costa del Sol between Estepona and Casares.

You don’t have to be wealthy to enjoy this enclosure in the municipality of Casares, on the westernmost Costa del Sol.

But that’s not a problem either, as there’s a restaurant and a beach bar on the site.

1.4 Hectares of navigable lake

Think you’ve seen it all on the Costa del Sol? Then be ready for a surprise with this unique concept in Europe: turquoise waters, sandy coves, water sports, fusion cuisine and tropical gardens.

It certainly has nothing to do with an ordinary swimming pool. Emulating Caribbean beaches with incredible blue tones and sandy beaches, it’s definitely an experience you can put in your agenda this summer.

Activities at Alcazaba Lagoon

It’s an ideal place to enjoy a different dip, just 6 km from Estepona and some of the best golf courses and 5 Star hotels on the Costa del Sol.

Due to this huge area of fresh water, it is possible to practice a good range of water sports: Paddle surfing, sailing, kayaking, pedal boats, and even windsurfing.

Children from the age of 13 can use them on their own.

In addition to the part of the lagoon reserved for water sports, there are 3 enclosed pool areas to guarantee the safety of the activities.

The lagoon is surrounded by an artificial beach of white sand and lush exotic gardens where you can also enjoy a nice walk.

Ecologically sustainable

Considering that fresh water is a scarce commodity in southern Spain, the technology used in the lagoon is even more interesting.

In order to maintain the quality levels suitable for bathing, the water is mostly treated with ultrasound instead of chemicals.

Restaurant

The complex has a Restaurant with modern decoration and an unbeatable location with magnificent views of the artificial lagoon.

The Laguna Restaurant is open every day in summer from 9 am to midnight.

It has a wide and very well elaborated menu of meat, seafood, fish, vegetables with Mediterranean, Spanish, Italian and Asian cuisine.

Considering the usual ticket prices for the water parks on the Costa del Sol, this is a ‘normal’ price in comparison (General admission 2025: Aquamijas 32,5€ and Aqualand 37€).

New this year is the introduction of a ‘more VIP’ ticket, with a reservation of your sunbed on the front line of the lagoon. A complimentary towel is also included.

The purchase of the ticket includes sunbeds, use and enjoyment of nautical services and the services of the lagoon. Food and drink are not allowed.

You can change the bookings at least three days in advance.

• May: 11 am to 7 pm
• June to September: 11 am to 8 pm
• October: 11 am to 7 pm
• Rest of the year: 11 am to 6 pm
